We arrived at Mt Victoria which was to our meeting place, at 8.15am. When everyone had arrived we set off. We arrived at Oberon for light refreshments and a new jerry can as we were losing water.
We travelled down Felled Timber Road until we arrived at the entrance to the Abercrombe National Park. We didn’t get far before the fan shrowd split, broke off and was caught in the fan. The sound was so bad we thought we had blown up the engine. With a few heads under the bonnet we were on our way again. We didn’t get too much further when Pete & Tania’s trailer tyre went flat. A short stop again and we were on our way. We travelled down Middle Track and then Silent Creek Fire Trail until we reached Silent Creek Campground.
With tents and campers up we decided to relax for the remainder of the day. The kids quickly made their way to the creek and played happily for hours. Bob found a turtle who decided to remain safely inside his shell until he was put back into the creek. Later in the afternoon we heard rumbling in the distance. In a short time the clouds had rolled in and it was storming. We had a few good downpours. Tania made Bob a birthday surprise of cupcakes. They went down well for afternoon teas. A short time around the campfire after dinner then we retired for the night. The next morning was clear and the sun dried our gear.
Once everyone was packed up we were on our way. We decided to take the quicker, easier route out this time. We stopped off at Oberon for a bite to eat and then headed home. Thanks to all for a great weekend.
