Dunns Swamp - April 2012
Attendees – Andrew & Caitlin Driscoll, Aaron and Abbey Gibson
While a large number of our members were lucky enough to be away on the Corner trip for those of us left behind decided we would have a camping weekend up at Dunns Swamp. We met up on Friday after work at the lookout on Bellbird Hill Kurrajong Heights and to our surprise heard Bob and Peter talking on the two ways on their way back from the corner trip. After a brief chat with them about their trip we headed off arriving well after dark we struggled to find a good camping spot until a member from Blue Mountains Club (a good one driving a Disco J) came over and said there was a good spot next to him. After a quick set up and dinner we got a fire going and had a relaxing evening.
Saturday saw a nice start to the day with both the kids playing around the rocks until it warmed up enough for them to want to go swimming. Aaron got his kayak out and went for a paddle around the dam and took both the kids for a ride as well. After lunch we went for a bush walk and up to the lookout on top of the Pagoda rocks. I’d forgotten just how good the view is from up here well worth the effort of the climb up. The girls wanted to go for another swim so it was decided to call beer o’clock as we weren’t driving anywhere and sat on the edge to supervise. Another relaxing evening around the fire was called for after dinner.
Sunday saw an early pack up while the kids played again in the rocks before we headed for home. A great spot and a nice relaxing weekend.
